Take the spherical screen digital planetarium as an example to illustrate the design points of the dome projection system.
The Dome Digital Sky Hall needs to run interactive 3D programs and also plays HD videos. The system uses N+1's typical dome splicing method, which is arranged according to the latitude and longitude of the dome, and the projection picture is evenly distributed.
The screen is 10 meters in diameter and the picture is made up of 6 high-brightness projectors. The signal source is three graphics workstations, each of which can output two channels of signals. The graphics output from the graphics workstation is processed by the simulation fusion machine to achieve spherical pre-deformation, color correction and edge blending for stitching. The system has a three-dimensional simulation mode and a video playback mode, which are two modes of operation. In the 3D simulation mode, multiple workstations simultaneously run 3D interactive programs, including 2D, 3D star software, 3D simulation software, and so on. Multiple workstations distribute the multi-path original image signals, and the 3D correction of the spherical screen of the CG simulation fusion machine combines the screen parameters and the viewer's field of view parameters to make the output image of the 3D simulation system conform to the real three-dimensional relationship. It can meet the high requirements of image quality and simulation accuracy for applications such as military training and scientific research.
In the video playback mode, multiple workstations simultaneously play HD dome movies. Instead of using the 3D correction function, the system directly splits the channel and broadcasts directly to a single HD dome video. The system can support ball screen video of 2K×2K resolution. Users only need to purchase high-quality dome video files to achieve multi-channel simultaneous playback without the need for post-processing of video files.
For video files with a resolution of more than 2K×2K, in order to be able to play smoothly, it is processed into multiple video clips and then submitted to multiple workstations for distributed playback.
